Fall-River (spr. Favi-Riwwr), 1) Fluß im Staate Jowa (Nordamerika), entspringt auf der Ostgrenze der Grafschaft Delaware u. mündet in der Grafschaft Jackson in den Makoqueta-River; 2) Fabrikstadt u. Einfuhrhafen in der Grafschaft Bristol des Staates Massachusetts an der Mündung des Taunton-River in die Mount-Hope-Bai; 12 Kirchen, 2 Banken, 2 Zeitungen, mehrere Schulen; große Baumwollenspinnereien, Wollenmanufacturen, Eisengießerei, Rhederei, guter, sicherer, tiefer Hafen; von hier führt die Fall-River-Eisenbahn nach Boston; 12,000 Ew. Am 1. Juli 1843 große Feuersbrunst, welche mehrere Kirchen u. Fabriken zerstörte.
