Are (fr., spr. Ar), die Einheit des französischen Flächenmaßes; 1 A. = 7,049 rhein. QRuthen. Die A. wird eingetheilt in 10 Deciares, 100 Centiares (QMetres), 1000 Milliares, 10,000 QDecimetres, 100,000 QCentimetres, 1 Mill. QMillimetres. Als wirkliches Landmaß dient jedoch mehr der Hektare (= 100 Aren, so wie Dekare = 10 Aren), welcher gleich 3,31 berlin. Morgen sind.
