Armenierstadt, 1) (Szamos Ujvár, Uermeny Varos), Stadt am Kleinen Szamos im Kreise Dees (Siebenbürgen), mit Schloß (Zuchthaus), armen. Waisenhaus, seit 1726 meist von Armeniern bewohnt, seit 1851 griechisch-katholisches Bisthum, große Leder- u. Tuchfabriken, Weinbau, Handel mit Vieh; 4000 Ew. Hier am 13. Novbr. 1848 Gefecht zwischen den Österreichern unter Urban u. den ungarischen Insurgenten unter Baldacci; 2) Name von bes. von Armeniern bewohnten Stadttheilen[730] in mehreren großen orientalischen Städten, z.B. Constantinopel.
