Binomĭum (Binom, v. lat. u. gr.), ein aus 2 Gliedern, welche positiv od. negativ, rational od. irrational sein können, bestehender Ausdruck, wie a + b, √a + b u. dgl. Euklides versteht unter B. (Binomiale) die Ausdrücke a + √b, √a + √b, wenn a u. b positive Rationalzahlen sind, u. unterscheidet 6 verschiedene B.
