Casaubon (spr. Kasöbong, Casaubonus), 1) Isaak de C., geb. 1559 in Genf, von französischen Eltern; wurde 1582 Professor der griechischen Sprache daselbst u. 1596 in Montpellier, 1599 Bibliothekar in Paris u. st. 1614 in London, wo er seit 1610 gelebt hatte. Er gab heraus den Diogenes Laertios, Polyänos, Aristoteles, Theophrasts Charaktere, Polybios, Theokritos, Strabo, Dionysios von Halikarnassos, Athenäos, Plinius d.i., Persius, Sueton, Appulejus (s.d. a.); schrieb u.a.: De satyrica Graecorum poesi et Romanorum satyra, Par. 1605, u. Aufl. von Rambach, Halle 1774; De rebus sacris et eccles., Lond. 1614, Fol., Genf 1655; De libertate eccles., ebd. 1607 Epistolae, herausgeg. von Gronov, Haag 1638, Magdeb. 1656, Almeloveen, Rotterd. 1709; u.a. Wolf gab Casauboniāna, Hamb. 1710 heraus. 2) Merie, des Vorigen Sohn, geb. 1599 in Genf, st. 1671 als Rector in Ickham bei Canterbury; gab heraus: M. Antonius, Terentius, Epiktet u.
