Combes

Combes (spr. Kongb), geb. 1789 in Feurs bei Lyon, trat jung in Kriegsdienste u. wurde 1812 Offizier bei der alten Garde, machte als solcher den Feldzug in Rußland u. 1813 als Adjutant eines Infanterieregiments die Feldzüge 1813 u. 14 in Deutschland u. Frankreich mit, begleitete Napoleon als Capitän der Garde nach Elba, wurde 1815 Major u. führte das 1. Bataillon der Garde bei Waterloo, lebte dann in Amerika, kehrte aber 1830 zurück u. wurde Oberstlieutenant u. Oberst, ging 1837 freiwillig nach Algier u. blieb beim Sturme auf Constantine. Seine Büste wurde im Nationalmuseum zu Versailles aufgestellt u. ihm ein ehernes Standbild in seinem Geburtsort gesetzt.
