Danzi, Franz, geb. 1763 in Manheim, kam mit der Capelle nach München, setzte die Opern: Azakia, Die Mitternachtsstunde, Iphigenia in Aulis, Der Kuß u.a. in Musik u. heirathete die Sängerin, Pianistin u. Schauspielerin Margarethe Marchand; 1791 unternahmen beide eine Kunstreise u. wurden, er als Musikdirector, sie als Sängerin, bei der italienischen Operngesellschaft von Guardasoni engagirt; 1794 gingen sie nach Italien, 1796 wurde D. Vicecapellmeister in München, 1800 starb seine Gattin, 1806 ging er als Capellmeister nach Stuttgart u. 1812 nach Karlsruhe, wo er 1826 starb. Unter seinen geistlichen Compositionen zeichnen sich bes. ein Te Deum u. die Opern Malvine u. Durandot aus.
