Delaware (spr. Delläwär, Lord), altenglischer Titel, welchen später das Geschlechtder Weits führte; bekannt ist bes. Thomas D., im Anfang des 17. Jahrh. Generalgouverneurder virginischen Colonien, gab dem Delaware-Meerbusen seinen Namen, st. aber bald nach seiner Ankunft in Amerika.
