Elytron (gr.), Hülle, Futteral, Scheide, Mutterscheide; daher Elytrasesie, Verwachsung der Scheide, Mangel der Mutlerscheidenössnung. Elytritis, Scheidenentzündung, Gonorrhöe des weiblichen Geschlechts. Elytroblennorrhöa, Leukorrhoa der Scheide. Elytrocēle, Scheidenbruch. Elytroides tunica, eigentliche Scheidenhaut des Hodens Elytroncus, Scheidenanschwellung. Elytrophyma, Scheidenbeule. Elytroptōsis, Vorfall der Mutterscheide. Elytrorrhăphie, Operation gegen den Vorfall der Gebärmutter, von Marshall Hall angegeben. Die E. besteht in Ausschneiden eines Theils der Schleimhaut der Scheide; sie ist schmerzhaft, schwer ausführbar u. auch nicht ohne Gefahr, daher in neuester Zeit verlassen; s. Scheidennaht.
