Floccus

Floccus (Flocke), 1) (Flocellus), Mönchskleid, so v.w. Cucullus 3); 2) (Bot.), eine fädige Zelle od. Zellenreihe, aus der die ganze Pflanze besteht, wie bei den Fadenpilzen, od. die in Mehrzahl verbunden, ein lockeres Gewebe, das Schwammgewebe (Mycelium, s.d.), bildet, od. die Höhlung bei Bauchpilzen erfüllt u. dann die Masse der Sporen durchzieht; 3) abwischbare, zuletzt auch wohl von selbst abfallende Wollhaare, die als Bekleidung der Pflanze dienen, z.B. bei Verbascum floccosum u. Tragopogon floccosum, dann auch wohl Wollflocke genannt. Daher Floccōsus (Flocculosus), flockig, was solche Flocken hat od. ihnen ähnlich ist.
