Fyzabad (spr. Feisabad), 1) Bangla, Stadt im früheren Kön ig. eich Onde in Ostindien, am Flusse Ghoghra, der hier schiffbar ist; 100,000 Ew.; wurde von Saadet-Ali-Khan, erstem Nabob von Oude, zur Residenz erhoben, der hier, wie auch seine Nachfolger Sefdar-Jang u. Shujah-ud-daulah, mehrere Paläste u. andere Bauwerke aufführte. Unter Letzterem hatte die Stadt ihre höchste Blüthe erreicht; als er jedoch 1775 seine Residenz nach Lucknow verlegte, siedelten die angeseheneren Einwohner fast alle dahin über, so daß F. in Verfall gerieth. Die einst wichtige Industrie beschränkt sich jetzt auf Baumwollen- u. Metallwaaren u. Waffen. Während der Rebellion von 1857–58 wurde F. häufig genannt. 2) Hauptstadt der Landschaft Badakschan in Usbekistan (Mittelasien), am Badakschanfluß; Rubingruben, Goldwäscherei; 1823 durch ein Erdbeben fast gänzlich zerstört.
