Gosset

Gosset, William, britischer Generalmajor im Ingenieurcorps, geb. 1783 auf Jersey, diente 1799 in Holland, dann während des Krieges gegen Candy auf Ceylon u. befand sich bei dem Angriffe auf Algier unter Lord Exmouth in dem Boote, welches im Hafen landete u. die algierische Fregatte in Brand setzte. 1813 wurde er der Legation bei den Barbareskenstaaten unter Lord Heytesbury attachirt u. 1828 zum Secretär des Generalfeldzeugmeisters ernannt. Bei der entstehenden Vacanz trat er in die Stelle des Serjeant-at-arms des Hauses der Gemeinen u. st. 1848.
