Grävius

Grävius, Joh. Georg G., geb. 29. Jan 1632 in Naumburg an der Saale, studirte in Leipzig Rechtsgelehrsamkeit; eine zu erhebende Schuldforderung brachte ihn nach Holland, wo er sich in Leyden dem Studium der Schönen Wissenschaften ergab; er lehrte in Duisburg u. Deventer Humaniora u. st. 11. Jan. 1703 als Professor der Geschichte, Beredtsamkeit u. Staatskunst in Utrecht. Er gab heraus: Hesiodus, Lucian, Sueton, Cicero, Tibull, Properz, Catull, Iustin, Florus, Cäsar (s.d. a.), so wie die zwei Sammlungen: Thesaurus ant iquitatum rom., Utrecht u. Leyd. 1694–99, 12 Bde., Fol. (Vened. 1732–37); u. Thesaurus antiquitatum et historiarum Italiae, Leyd. 1704–25, 45 Bde., Fol., vollendet von Burmann.
