Helenīn

Helenīn, 1) (Alantcampher)., C42H28O4, findet sich in der Alantwurzel (Inula Helenium) u. wird aus derselben durch Ausziehen mit Alkohol gewonnen; krystallisirt in vierseitigen, weißen Krystallen, welche sich nicht in Wasser, leicht in Alkohol u. Äther lösen; schmilzt bei 72°; siedet bei 175 bis 200°. Mit Schwefelsäure bildet es die Heleninschwefelsäure; durch Chlor wird es in Heleninchlorid, C42H28Cl4O6, durch Schwefelsäure in Nitrohelenin, C15H9N2O6, verwandelt; mit wasserfreier Phosphorsäure destillirt gibt das H. eine gelbliche Flüssigkeit, welche schwach nach Aceton riecht, mit rufender Flamme brennt u. Papier befleckt; dieser Körper ist das Helenen C38H26; 2) so v.w. Dahlin, s.u. Alant 1).
