Houston (der lange auf den Antillen u. in Mexico lebte u. 1733 daselbst starb, u. dessen Pflanzensammlung Banks, Lond. 1781, Nürnb. 1794, herausgab), aus der Familie der Rubiaceae-Cinchonaceae-Hedyotideae-Hedyoteae, 4. Kl. 1. Ordn. L., gehört zu Hedyotis Lam.; Arten: H. coerulea, H. purpurea, in Virginien, Zierpflanzen.
