Hylaeosaurus

Hylaeosaurus (H. Mant.), eine vorweltliche Eidechsengattung, von welcher man nur eine Art kennt: H. armatus, welche nach den Größenverhältnissen der aufgefundenen Knochen 25 Fuß lang gewesen sein dürfte. Sie wurde zuerst in Wealden von Tilgate u. später auch in den gleichartigen Gebilden von Bolney u. Battle gefunden. Die Körperbedeckung bestand in kreisrunden u. elliptischen Schildern, welche nach hinten an Größe abnahmen. Die größten messen 3, die kleinsten 1 Zoll.
