Infusion

Infusion (v. lat.), 1) so v.w. Infusum, s. Aufguß; 2) (Med.), Einbringen flüssiger od. gasförmiger fremder Stoffe in Blutgefäße, bes. Venen lebender Thiere od. Menschen. Die I. hat als Heilung wenig Erfolg gehabt u. wird jetzt meist nur zur Erforschung der Wirkung von Arzneien, Giften etc. auf Thiere angewendet. Bei Unmöglichkeit zu schlucken hat man durch sie Brechen erzeugt, indem man eine Brechweinsteinauflösung einspritzte. Bei unvorsichtiger Anwendung hat sie leicht tödtliche Wirkung, bes. wenn Gasarten, auch nur atmosphärische Luft, in nicht ganz geringer Menge eingebracht werden. Vgl. Transfusion.
