Inns of court

Inns of court (engl., spr. Inns of Kohrt, Gerichtscollegien), ursprünglich Rechtsschulen (Rechtscorporationen, da Inn früher die Wohnung der Edelleute bezeichnete u. diese ausschließlich zum Rechtsstudium zugelassen wurden), sie waren ehemals viel bedeutender, da von ihrem Besuch die Zulassung zur juristischen Praxis abhing, während sich jetzt die Studirenden nur in die Inns einschreiben lassen u. sich bei einem der Anwälte, welche dort ihre Expedition haben, praktisch ausbilden. Damit verbunden sind die Inns of Chancery (spr. I. of Tschänserih), in welchen sonst die Kanzleibeamten gebildet wurden u. welche jetzt meist von Sachwaltern bewohnt werden; jetzt gebotene Mittagsvereinigungen der englischen Advocaten, vgl. Barrister.
