Instruction (v. lat.), 1) Belehrung, Anweisung; daher Instructionsbuch, beim Militär ein Buch, in welches die wichtigsten Befehle verzeichnet werden, um sie den Mannschaften öfters durch Vorlesen in Erinnerung bringen zu können. Instructionsloge, in der Freimaurerei Loge, worin der Meister vom Stuhle freie Vorträge hält, welche sich auf den Zweck der Maurerei, deren Geschichte, das zu beobachtende Ritual u. dgl. beziehen, od. sonst zur Belehrung der Brüder bestimmt sind; 2) Vorschrift, bes. schriftliche, nach welcher der, dem ein Geschäft aufgetragen ist, handeln muß; 3) Vollmacht; 4) Verhandlung des Anwaltes mit dem Clienten, um sich über die factischen Verhältnisse, Beweismittel etc. eines Processes Auskunft zu verschaffen. I. der Acten, die Einrichtung u. das Ordnen der Acten, so daß man Alles daraus ersehen kann, was zu dem Proceß od. einem bestimmten Stadium desselben nöthig ist. I. des Processes, die Ausmittelung u. Feststellung der Punkte, welche eigentlich Streitgegenstand der Parteien sind od. (im Criminalprocesse) die Hauptmomente der Untersuchung bilden. Instructionsmaxime, so v.w.
