Loches (spr. Losch), 1) Arrondissement des französischen Departements Indre-et-Loire, 35 QM., 64,933 Ew.; 2) Hauptstadt darin, links am Indre, hat ein altes Schloß, welches lange ein Staatsgefängniß war (u.a. saß hier Herzog Ludwig Sforza Moro von Mailand), in der Schloßkirche wird das Herz der Agnes Sorel aufbewahrt, Collège, Gerichtshof, Wollspinnerei, Färberei, fabricirt Leinwand, Tuch, Papier, Leder u. treibt Handel mit Wein, Wolle, Holz u. Rindvieh; 5270 Ew. Der Stadt gegenüber, mit ihr durch eine Brücke verbunden, liegt das Städtchen Beaulieu mit 2500 Ew.
