Paŏlo (von den Deutschen gewöhnlich Paul od. Pauliner genannt), römische Silbermünze, in neuerer Zeit durch die Päpste anstatt des früheren Giulio[609] (s.d.) eingeführt; das ursprüngliche Gepräge trägt auf dem Avers das päpstliche. Wappen, auf dem Revers meist die Ziffer 10. 1 P. = 10 Bajocchi; 10 Paoli = 1 Scudo; 96,5 Paoli gehen auf die Kölner Mark fein Silber; daher 1 P. = 4 Sgr. 4,25 Pfennige preußisch = 22 Neukreuzer österreichisch = 15,25 Kreuzer rheinisch.
