Pithiviers (spr. Pitiwieh), 1) Arrondissement im französischen Departement Loiret; 21,5 QM., 60,000 Ew.; 2) Hauptstadt darin an der Oeuf, Korbflechterei, Gerberei, Wein- u. Safranbau, Handel mit Lerchenpasteten u. Mandelkuchen; P. ist der Geburtsort des Mathematikers Poisson, welchem hier eine Statue errichtet wurde; 4000 Ew. In der Nähe eine Mineralquelle.
