Polymer (v. gr.), vieltheilig, theilbar, mannigfaltig; Polymerer Isomorphismus, ein Isomorphismus, bei welchem mehre Atome der einen Substanz mit einem Atom (od. einer verschiedenen Anzahl von Atomen) als isomorph vorausgesetzt werden. Scheerer stellte zuerst die Idee des Polymeren Isomorphismus auf u. suchte denselben zunächst in der Weise geltend zu machen, daß drei Atome Wasser mit einem Atom Magnesia isomorph sind. Die von Bonsdorff gefundene Thatsache, daß in manchen Silicaten zwei Atome Kieselerde durch drei Atome Thonerde vertreten werden, kann ebensowohl als ein Beweis für die Annahme eines Polymeren Isomorphismus, wie als Beweis für die Zusammensetzung der Kieselerde aus einem Atom Silicium u. zwei Atomen Sauerstoff betrachtet werden; denn nimmt man in der Kieselerde nur zwei Atome Sauerstoff an, so wirdin Bezug auf die Thonerde u. Kieselerde der Polymere Isomorphismus auf den gewöhnlichen Isomorphismus zurückgeführt.
