Privation

Privation, (v. lat.), 1) Beraubung, Absetzung; 2) einseitige Entziehung eines einer Privatperson zustehenden Rechtes, bes. wenn dieselbe als Strafe eintritt; z.B. bei der Emphyteusis (s.d.), wenn der Emphyteuta sein Recht ohne Anzeige an den Eigenthümer weiter verkauft, das Gut verschlechtert od. die Abgaben binnen gesetzter Frist (drei, resp. zwei Jahre) nicht gehörig entrichtet hat; od. beim Lehn wegen Verletzung der Lehnstreue etc.; 3) Entblößung, Mangel, die Abwesenheit, das Nichtdasein einer Eigenschaft.
