Mayow, Johann, geb. 1645 in Cornwallis, praktischer Arzt in Bath, st. das. 1679. Er entdeckte zuerst das Oxygen in der Salpetersäure u. der atmosphärischen Luft, die Grundlage der neuern Chemie, u. schr.: Tractatus medico-physici, Oxf. 1674.
