Mentāl... (v. lat.), 1) (von Mentum, das Kinn), auf das Kinn sich beziehend, Arterien, Venen, Nerven etc.; 2) (von Mens, Verstand, Seele), auf das Innere, auf die Gedanken sich beziehend. Daher Mentalreservation (Reservatio mentalis), bei einem Eide Vorbehalt in Gedanken, wodurch man etwas darunter stillschweigend Befaßtes mit Willen davon ausschließt; ist nach jesuitischen Sophistik in einzelnen Fällen zugestanden.
