Select (v. lat.), auserwählt, erlesen. Selecta (nämlich Classis) auf manchen Gelehrtenschulen die oberste Klasse, in welcher die Schüler zur Universität vorbereitet werden. Selecti, in Rom die Richter in den Quaestiones perpetuae (s.d.) unter dem Prätor. Selecti dii, die wichtigen der altrömischen Götter, welchen Tempel geweihet waren; vgl. Römische Mythologie.
