Sgraffito (ital.), gekratzte Manier; man macht einen glatten Mauerbewurf von Kalk, Sand u. Kohlenstaub u. überzieht diese dunkelgefärbte Fläche mit Weiß (Kalk). Auf diesen weißen Grund trägt man seine Contoure auf u. kratzt sie u. die Schatten mit einem scharfen Eisen ein, wodurch eine Art [930] Zeichnung entsteht, wie man sie, namentlich im 16. Jahrh., in Italien vielfältig zum Schmuck von Häuserfaçaden anwendete.
