Tannaim, 1) die Lehrer dritter Klasse bei den Juden, welche von der Zerstörung Jerusalems bis auf die neueste Zeit herab in den Schulen Vorsätzen; 2) die, welche die Tradition fortpflanzten u. zuletzt die Mischna schrieben, in welcher letzteren Bedeutung die Rabbiner von Simeon dem Gerechten bis auf Juda den Heiligen T. heißen.
