Trehala

Trehala, heißen im Orient hohle Massen von der Größe einer Olive, welche auf den Zweigen einer Echinopsart durch die Larve einer Coleoptere erzeugt werden; sie dienen als Nahrungsmittel u. bestehen hauptsächlich aus Stärkemehl, Gummi u. einer der Mycose (s.d.) sehr ähnlichen, vielleicht mit ihr identischen Zuckerart, der Trehalose.
