Montenotte 1) Dorf in der piemontesischen Provinz Alba auf dem Apennin u. am Erro; hier 11. April 1796 Sieg Bonapartes über die Österreicher u. Sardinier, s. Französischer Revolutionskrieg III. B); zum Andenken daran wurde 1805 ein 2) französisches Departement M. aus piemontesischen u. genuesischen Landstücken errichtet; 591/2 QM. u. 290,000 Ew.
