Uëlls), 1) Stadt in der englischen Grafschaft Somerset; gothische Kathedrale, Bischof, bischöflicher Palast, Rathhaus, Leder-, Wollenwaaren-, Spitzen-, Papierfabriken, Seidenspinnerei; 5000 Ew. W. sendet zwei Mitglieder ins Unterhaus. In der Nähe die Höhle Okey (Wookey), mit Stalaktiten; 2) Grafschaft im Staate Indiana (Nordamerika), 17 QM., vom Wabash River durchflossen; fruchtbar mit schönen Laubholzwaldungen; Producte: Mais, Weizen, Hafer; die Fort Wayne-Muncie Eisenbahn durchschneidet die Grafschaft; 1850:6152 Ew.; Hauptort: Bluffton; 3) Städtischer Bezirk mit Postamt (Post-township) in der Grafschaft York des Staates Maine, am Atlantischen Ocean. u. der Portland-Saco-Portsmouth Eisenbahn; 3200 Ew.; 4) mehre Townships u. kleinere Orte in verschiedenen anderen der Vereinigten Staaten.
