Willow (Zauseler), eine dem Wolf (s.d. 4) ähnliche u. deshalb oft ebenfalls Wolf genannte Maschine der Baumwollspinnerei, bei welcher aber die Trommel statt der zahlreichen spitzen Zähne nur vier Reihen 4 bis 5 Zoll langer, stumpfer eiserner Stifte u. die Innenseite des Kastens ebenfalls nur vier Reihen solcher Stifte enthält; auch macht die Trommel von 24 bis 3 Fuß Durchmesser nur 300 Umläufe in einer Minute, weshalb die Baumwolle im W. mehr geschont wird. Der W. arbeitet nicht ununterbrochen wie der Wolf, sondern absatzweise, wobei die Wolle (11/2 Pfund) durch einen Trichter auf dem Mantel eingefüllt, 1/2 Minute lang bearbeitet u. durch eine Thür herausgenommen wird. Ein W. bearbeitet 150–200 Pfund Baumwolle in einer Stunde, während der Wolf 1000–1200 Pfund in einem Tag bearbeitet. Für mittlere u. geringere Baumwollsorten wird ein konischer W. gebraucht, dessen Trommel u. Kasten abgestutzt-kegelförmig ist u. welcher ununterbrochen arbeitet, indem die Baumwolle stetig durch ein Einlaßtuch am dünneren Ende (21 Zoll Durchmesser) zugeführt u. am dickeren Ende (4 Fuß Durchmesser) austritt; die 6 Fuß lange Trommel macht 400–600 Umläufe in einer Minute.
