Woolston (spr. Wulst'n), Thomas, geb. 1669 in Northampton, studirte bis 1720 in Cambridge Theologie, wurde aber aus Rache gegen die Geistlichkeit, welche ihn zu einem Amte nicht beförderlich war, ein Gegner des Christenthums u. Zweifler an der Wahrheit der evangelischen Geschichte u. der Wirklichkeit der Wunder Jesu, welche er vielmehr blos allegorisch erklärte; die Regierung ließ ihn gefangen setzen, da er weder die 150 Pfund Strafe, noch 2000 Pfund als Caution für sein Versprechen nicht mehr gegen die christliche Religion zu schreiben erlegen konnte, u. er st. 1731 im Gefängniß.
