Aubry (spr. Obrl), 1) Jean Baptiste, geb. 1736 bei Epinal, Benedictinermönch, widmete sich nach Aufhebung der Mönchsorden literarischen Arbeiten u. st. zu Commercy 1809. Schr.: L'ami philosophe et politique, Par. 1776; Théorie de l'ame des bêtes, 1780 u. 1790; Questions philosophiques sur la religion naturelle, 1782; L'Anti-Condillac, 1801; Nouvelle théorie des êtres, 1804 u. a.; setzte auch Celliers Hist. des auteurs sacrès et profanes fort. 2) A., schöne, aber leichtfertige Tänzerin an der französischen Oper, stellte 1793 bei dem Cultus der Vernunft diese Göttin zum allgemeinen Scandal dar; später fiel sie als Gloire auf dem Theater aus dem Wolkenwagen u. brach den Arm. Sie ward pensionirt u. lebte vergessen noch 1830 zu Paris. Nach Anderen war jene Göttin der Vernunft eine Engländerin u. st. um 1836 bei Neapel wahnsinnig in einer Bauernhütte.
