Augusta, 1) (gr. Sebaste), Beiname (od. Titel) der römischen Kaiserinnen, später der Mütter u. Töchter von Kaisern; Livia erhielt denselben durch Adoption in das Julische Geschlecht zuerst u. wird als Gemahlin des Augustus bes. so genannt; 2) s. Auguste.
