Balsamodendron (B. Kunth. s. Balsamea Gled.), Pflanzengattung aus der Familie der Burseraceen, 1. Ordn. 8. Kl. L., balsamreiche arabische Bäume mit vierzähnigem Kelche, 4 Blumenblättern, 8 Staubgefäßen unterhalb der ringförmigen Scheibe, zweifächerigem Fruchtknoten, kurzem Griffel, ein- bis zweifächiger, ein- bis zweisamiger Steinfrucht, spitzig mit 4 vortretenden Näthen; Arten: B. gileadense (der ächte Balsambaum, s.d.), B. opobalsamum, B. Myrrha (Myrrhenbaum), liefert das Myrrhenharz, s.d. (Myrrha vel Gummi myrrhae), seit den ältesten Zeiten als Heilmittel bekannt; B. Kataf Kunth., B. Kafal Kunth., B. zeylanicum Kunth., letzterer liefert das ostindische Elemiharz, s.d.
