Baluze (spr. Balüs), Etienne, geb. 1630 zu Tulle, studirte die Rechte, wurde 1667 Colberts Bibliothekar u. 1670 Professor des Kanonischen Rechtes zu Paris; seine Hist. général de la maison d'Auvergne, Par. 1708, 2 Bde. Fol., zog ihm Verbannung (1708–13) zu; nach seiner Rückkehr blieb er ohne Anstellung u. starb zu Paris 1718. Er sammelte: Regum Francor. capitularia, Par. 1672, 2 Bde. Fol., n.A. ebd. 1780, 2 Bde., Fol.; Concilia Galliae narbon., ebd. 1688; Nova collectio concil., ebd. 1663, Fol. (Supplemente zu Labbés Sammlung); Collectio vett. monum quae hactenus latuerunt, ebd. 1678–1715, 7 Bde., n.A. von Mansi, Lucca 1761, 4 Bde. Fol.; schr.: Vita Paparum Avenionensium, ebd. 1693, 2 Bde.
