Bhawalpur, 1) Landschaft im westlichen Hindostan, von mehr als 1000 QM.; grenzt in NW. an Sind u. das Gebiet der Shiks, in O., SO. u. S. an die Wüsten Bhutneir, Bukanir u. Jassulmair, im N. an die Flüsse Ghara u. Indus. Meist flaches Land, zum Theil sehr fruchtbar, bes. an Weizen, Reis, Indigo, Zucker, Baumwolle u. Opium reich. An Wild gibt es viele Tiger u. Wildschweine, an Hausthieren: Kameele, Büffel, Schafe, Ziegen; die Bewohner sind theils Jets (der herrschende Volksstamm), theils Hindus, Beludschen u. Afghanen; Regent ist ein Khan, der eine reguläre Streitmacht unterhält; 2) Hauptstadt das., am Ghara; 20,000 Ew.; Manufactur von Turbanen u. bedeutender Handel.
