Bourke (spr. Burk), Jean Raimund Charles, Graf von B., geb. 1773 in Lorient, stammte aus einer englischen Familie, trat schon 1787 als Lieutenant in französische Dienste, nahm an der Expedition nach Cochinchina u. 1792 nach S. Domingo Theil, wurde 1794 Capitän u. Chef de Bataillon u. machte eine Expedition nach Irland mit, wurde aber dort gefangen; später begleitete er als Adjutant den General Leclerc 1802 nach S. Domingo, kehrte 1803 als Oberst zurück, wurde Adjutant Davousts u. machte die Feldzüge von 1805, 1806, 1807 u. 1809 mit; bei Wagram Brigadegeneral geworden, führte er eine Brigade gegen die Engländer auf Vließingen, eine andere der Division Reille seit 1810 in Spanien; hier wurde er Gouverneur von Lerida, 1813 aber Divisionsgeneral u. Gouverneur von Wesel, 1815 von Givet, dann Generalinspector der Infanterie u. Mitglied der Commission zur Durchsicht des Reglements; 1823 führte er wieder eine Division in Spanien unter dem Herzog von Angoulème, wo er sich klug u. geschickt benahm. Er starb den 30. Aug. 1847 als Generallieutenant u. Pair von Frankreich auf seinem Landsitze zu Plömeur bei Lorient.
