Bragadīno

Bragadīno, 1) Marcus Anton, Venetianer, geb. um 1525; vertheidigte 1570 u. 1571 Famagusta gegen die Türken, ward nach der Übergabe, welche seinen Abzug bedingte, mit abgeschnittenen Ohren u. Nase an die Spitze eines Mastes gebunden u. lebendig geschunden. Mustapha ließ die Haut ausstopfen u. führte sie so mit sich herum. Endlich kauften sie B-s Söhne u. bestatteten die Überreste ihres Vaters. 2) Marcus, gewöhnlich Mamugna, aus Candia; Capuciner, später Goldmacher. Er täuschte Jacob Cantarini durch Taschenspielerei so, daß dieser meinte, selbst die Verwandlung des Mercurs in Gold gesehen zu haben. In Padua ward er indessen entlarvt u., als er nach München floh, dort verhaftet u. 1590 enthauptet.
