Mall (Mahl), Muster od. Chablone von dünnen Bretern, um die verschiedenen Holzstücke zur Zusammensetzung eines Schiffes darnach vorzuzeichnen (Mallenzeichnung) u. darnach zu arbeiten; daher Mallen (Bemallen) nach Chablonen arbeiten. Der Wind mallt, wenn er flau u. unbeständig in seiner Richtung ist.
