Böcler, Joh. Heinrich, geb. 1611 zu Kronheim in Franken; wurde 1637 Professor der Beredtsamkeit u. Kanonikus an der Thomaskirche zu Strasburg; die Königin Christine von Schweden berief ihn 1649 als Professor nach Upsala u. ernannte ihn 1630 zum königl. Historiographen; er kehrte 1652 nach Strasburg zurück, wo er Professor der Geschichte wurde u. 1672 st. Er schr.: Historia universalis, Strasb. 1686; Notitia romani imperii, ebd. 1681; Historia universalis IV seculorum post Christum, ebd. 1699; Commentatio in Grotii librum de jure belli et pacis, ebd. 1712; Bibliotheca critica, Lpz. 1115 u.a. Seine Söhne u. Enkel waren geschickte Ärzte.
