Combination

Combination (v. lat.), 1) Verbindung von Mehreren durch Zusammenfügung in eine Reihe od. Ordnung; 2) (Log.), Verbindung mehrerer Urtheile zu Erforschung der Wahrheit, indem eins aus dem anderen als Folgerung hergeleitet wird; bei jedem Syllogismus ist C., u. es wird dann eine Wahrheit, als eine nothwendige, aus einer anderen durch Schluß erkannt. Oft aber führt auch die Verbindung mehrerer Wahrnehmungen, darüber gefällter Urtheile u. Schlüsse nur zur Wahrscheinlichkeit. Das regelmäßige Verfahren dabei heißt die Combinations. od. Combinatorische Methode. Die Fertigkeit des Verstandes, auf diesem Wege der Wahrheit sich zu nähern, od. auch sie wirklich zu erkennen, heißt Combinationsvermögen; 3) (Math.), s. Combinationslehre B); 4) (Min.), die Verbindung zweier od. mehrerer einfachen Krystalle bei einem einzigen; z.B. der Würfel, der zu Rechtecken geworden ist u. 6 gleichschenkelige Dreiecke aufgesetzt bekommen hat, z.B. Bergkrystall. Sie richtet sich nach verschiedenen Gesetzen u. ist nach den verschiedenen Krystallsystemen sehr mannichfaltig.
