Depositĭon (v. lat. Deposotio), 1) Herablegung [851] so I). cataractae, so v.w. Depressio cataractae; 2) Niederlegung, bes. einer Summe Geldes od. anderer Sachen zum Aufbewahren, s. Depositum; 3) Aussage vor Gericht, z.B. der Zeugen des Angeklagten; 4) (Depositio ab officio), Absetzung von der Stelle; Strafe für Geistliche, gelindere Art der Degradation, s.d.; 5) die Lossprechung eines Buchdruckerlehrlings, s. u. Buchdrucker.
