Dyce, Alex., geb. 1797 in Edinburg, studirte daselbst u. in Oxford Theologie, war erst Geistlicher u. lebt seit 1827 in London, wo er sich bes. mit der vaterländischen Literatur beschäftigt u. 1840 Mitgründer der Percy-society wurde; er hat eine große Anzahl Werke älterer englischer Gelehrter u. Dichter herausgegeben u. schr.: Remarks on Collin's and Knight's editions of Shakspeare, Lond. 1844; übersetzte auch ausgewählte Stellen aus Quintus Smyrnäus u. Athenäos.
