Junĭor

Junĭor (lat.), der Jüngere; bes. zu Unterscheidung älterer u. jüngerer gleichnamiger Personen, Gegensatz: Senior. So Juniōres, 1) seit Romulus die waffenfähige Mannschaft, im Gegensatz zu Seniores, welche den Senat ausmachten; 2) Abtheilung der römischen Bürger in der Servianischen Verfassung, s. Rom (Gesch.); 3) (Kirchw.), solche, welche um gewisse Grade der Weihung zurückstehen, z.B. die Diakonen in Bezug auf den Presbyter; 4) Geistliche, welche nach dem Subdiakonus Rang haben, wie: Lectores, Exorcistae. Juniorat, 1) die Erbfolge des Jüngsten in der jüngsten Linie; 2) die Kirche od. das geistliche Beneficium, welche nur jüngere Geistliche erhalten.
