Kama (ind. Myth.), Gott der Liebe, Sohn des Kasyapa u. der Maja u. bei seiner zweiten Geburt Sohn des Wischnu u. der Lakschmi; er wurde vom Herrn der Götter mit seinem Feuerblick verbrannt u. hieß nun Ananga (der Körperlose); später wurde er in der Familie des Krischna unter dem Namen Prodymna (Purdman) wiedergeboren-Der Asur Sambhara nahm das Kind in einem Kasten ins Meer; ein Fisch verschluckte den Kasten, wurde gefangen u. von Reti (Rati, Radi), der wiedergebornen Gemahlin K-s, geschlachtet. Da fand sie Kasten u. Kind u. erzog dasselbe heimlich, bis es groß war u. den Asur tödtete. Jetzt wurden beide wieder als Dewetas vereinigt. K. wird abgebilden als Jüngling, auf einem Papagei reitend, Bogen u. Pfeile sind mit Blumen umwunden; bald allein, bald, mit seiner Gattin zusammen. Im Monat Tschaitra wird ihm ein zweitägiges Fest gefeiert.
