Palibŏthra

Palibŏthra (Palimbothra), Stadt der Prasii od. Mandalä in Indien, an der Westseite des Ganges; hieß im Sanskrit Pataliputra, lag an dem Einfluß des Erannoboas in den Ganges, war sehr groß, hatte hölzerne Mauern mit Thürmen u. war von tiefen Gräben umzogen; sie wurde im 7 Jahrh. n. Chr. zerstört; Ruinen davon bei Patna.
