Peel (spr. Pihl), 1) de P., großer Morast in den niederländischen Provinzen Nordbrabant u. Limburg; 11/2 Meilen breit, 5 Meilen lang; in ihm finden sich mehrere Ortschaften; er liefert vortrefflichen Torf; 2) Insel bei der britischen Insel Man; 3) Stadt auf der Insel Man, liegt an einer Bai, hat Schloß; 1400 Ew.; seichten Hafen, doch treibt man von hier aus Häringsfischerei u. Handel; 4) Fluß in Neu-Südwales (Australien), nimmt den Cockburn auf; 5) Insel der Boningruppe.
